STRIDE Programs
The Activity 4 All Program, which was created and is overseen by Kinesiology professor Dr. Kevin Taylor, aims to provide community members of all levels of ability with opportunities for recreation and exercise.
The Program, which is staffed by Cal Poly Kinesiology students enrolled in KINE 407 and volunteers, works to create fun and inclusive adapted physical activities.
The Health Ambassadors program consists of Cal Poly students enrolled in Kinesiology 471, committed to developing a sustainable educational program targeted at middle and junior high students in San Luis Obispo County. Ambassadors act as liaisons between college students and the community, supporting existing STRIDE programs - such as Pink and Dude Chefs, Program X and Farm Fresh Tastings - as well as participating in local health fairs.
More >>STRIDE Club
This entirely student-run club works to connect Cal Poly students of all majors
with STRIDE Center. Club members aim to spread health awareness by promoting healthy
lifestyle habits throughout the campus community and strive to broaden students' understanding of what STRIDE has to offer. All Cal Poly students are welcome to join this health-conscious group.
A-Team is a collection of Cal Poly students from various majors who are trained to go out into the San Luis Obispo community to conduct physical health assessments. Students possess the skills and ability to test the height, weight, BMI, BIA, waist circumference and blood pressure of study participants. While they are not able to make any official medical diagnoses, the A-Team can provide participants with a convenient baseline assessments of their overall health and plenty of helpful resources. A-Team primarily carries out the FLASH Study.
More >>Pink and Dude Chefs

Since its foundation in 2008, the Pink and Dude Chefs culinary course has become one of STRIDE's most popular community programs. This hands-on educational course encourages middle school students to bring their creativity into the kitchen! Cal Poly students, mostly Health Ambassadors from KINE 471, teach participants healthy and safe cooking skills in a fun environment. During each six-week afterschool program, participating students learn the basics of kitchen safety and walk away knowing how to prepare nutritious snacks and meals for themselves and their families.
